The seminar started with the recitation of Holy Qur’an. The seminar was presided by Prof. Liaquat Zia, Principal Government Jinnah Islamia College, Sialkot. In his welcome speech the principal said that guiding the students about the career planning is the need of our society. “Students are experiencing a major problem of lack of information and guidance and due to this reason hundreds of thousands of students ruin their career every year” he saind. He also expressed gratitude to the Eduvision team for organizing the seminar

Talking to the participants, Mr. Yousuf Almas, CEO Eduvision, defined the career planning as a continuous process that is done by considering the students aptitude, his/her desire, national and international circumstances, status of the different fields in the society and job market.

He said that sometimes parents and relatives decide about the career of a child totally neglecting the aptitude, goals and educational background of the students that results in ruining the life of the child. He said that students must also get satisfactory information about the legal status of the institution, accreditation status of the degree, fee structure and examination system before applying for admission in a particular institution. He said that the exact procedure of choosing a field of study involves five steps.

1.      Know about yourself

2.      Know about the fields available

3.      Make an assessment of your grades and qualification

4.      Choose the best one for you after a clear understanding of step 1, 2 and 3

5.      Get maximum information and explore maximum opportunities.

“Career Planning is more successful if you link it with other parts of your life. What are your family and leisure activities? How is university education important to you? Are you more of a hands-on learner? Are you more successful as part of a team or can work better alone?” he further added. He narrated that the student ought to o know about his/her strengths and weaknesses and must also know about the different fields of study available. He said that while deciding about the field of study the student must consider his/her qualification, expense of the study and the institutions offering the required disciplines.

Mr. Sohaib Ahmad Khan presented the introduction of following fields of study available in Pakistan.

• Agriculture

• Computer Sciences

• Engineering

• Medical

• Natural Sciences

• Social Sciences

• Management Sciences

He also guided the students about the education system of Pakistan, accreditation authorities, entry test and pre-requisites of the up stated fields. He also explained the work style, special qualities and aptitude required to excel in a particular field of study. Students took a keen interest in his presentation and asked many questions, to those he replied.
