NUST announces admissions for Engineering, Medical, CS and other bachelor Programs

National University of Science and Technology has announced admissions for session 2013 for bachelor programs.
Last date to apply for admission is 5th April for first round of entrance test.
Eligibility

For admission in NUST, eligibility criteria is strictly followed.
A minimum of 60% aggregate marks each in Matric and FSc / FA / equivalent exams is required.
O & A level and other non-FSc stream candidates need to obtain equivalence certificates from Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), Pakistan.
Engineering

FSc (Pre-engineering group) from any Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education or an equivalent qualification like Overseas High School Certificate / British General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) / International Baccalaureate / Advanced Placement with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Candidates with FSc / equivalent qualification with the combination of Physics, Mathematics and Computer Studies or Computer Science can only apply for Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Telecommunication Engineering.
BS Computer Science

FSc (Pre-engineering Group / Computer Science Group) from any Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education or an equivalent qualification like Overseas High School Certificate / British General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) / International Baccalaureate / Advanced Placement with Physics, Computer Science / Comuputer Studies and Mathematics.
MBBS / BDS

FSc (Pre-medical Group) from any Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education OR an equivalent qualification like A level or any other foreign qualification with three (3) subjects out of which Biology and Chemistry are essential subjects.

Marital status: Unmarried
Applied Biosciences

FSc (Pre-medical Group) from any Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education OR an equivalent qualification like A level or any other foreign qualification with three (3) subjects out of which Biology and Chemistry are essential subjects.
Business Studies & Social Sciences

Intermediate or an equivalent qualification, such as an Overseas High School Certificate / British General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) / International Baccalaureate / Advance Placement.
Natural Sciences (BS Mathematics)

Intermediate or equivalent qualification, such as an Overseas High School Certificate / British General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) / International Baccalaureate / Advance Placement (with Mathematics) is required.
Architecture and Industrial Design

FSc (Pre-Engineering OR Computer Science Group / Equivalent OR any combination with Physics and Mathematics) is required.
Note:

Candidates of FA/ FSc stream can apply for the NUST Entrance Test on the basis of FA / FSc Part-I but the confirmation of their admission is subject to provision of FA / FSc certificate or Detailed Marks Certificate (with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks) before the commencement of the relevant programme of study.
Candidates of O/A Level stream can apply on the basis of O Level equivalence certificate from IBCC, but the confirmation of their admission is subject to provision of A Level equivalence certificate.
Candidates of MBBS / BDS / Biosciences programmes must enter their complete FSc or equivalent exam marks in online application form.
Ineligibility Criteria

Candidates with any of the following deficiencies are NOT eligible to apply for admission in UG programmes:
Having secured less than 60% marks in Matric and FA / FSc.
Having failed / not appeared in any subject in FA / FSc Part-I / II.
Having secured less than 60% marks in O/A level as per the equivalence certificate issued by IBCC.
In case of O & A level / equivalent foreign qualification, those not in possession of valid O level or equivalent qualification certificate issued by IBCC at the time of applying to NUST.
Female candidates are not eligible to apply for Aerospace, Avionics and Civil Engineering at Risalpur campuses.
Diploma holders are not eligible to apply for any undergraduate programme

New system of Undergraduate admissions
The new system of UG admissions at NUST is being implemented in the year 2013. The salient features of the new system are given below:
The process of entrance test is delinked from admission process.
During an admission cycle, candidates can appear in entrance test more than once to improve their score, and apply for admission separately on the basis of best score when applications are invited tentatively in May-June.
Computer based entrance tests for all disciplines will be held in multiple sessions at NUST Campus Islamabad according to the following schedule:
First Session (NET 1) - April-May
Second Session (NET 2) - June-July
Paper based entrance test will be conducted in Karachi and Quetta only once in July.
Candidates who have cleared FSc (Part-I) or O level exam with minimum 60 % marks (or equivalent) are eligible to apply. For detailed criteria for eligibility please visit Undergraduate Admission section.
General Awareness portion in the NET has been replaced with Intelligence test questions having same weighting. i.e. 5%
Processing fee for entrance test and admission will be charged separately according to following structure:
For NUST Enrance Test
Entrance Test Fee (per exam): - Rs. 2000/- or USD 25/-
Admission Processing Fee (per programme) - Rs.1000/- or USD 12/-
For SAT Candidates
SAT National - Rs.3000/- or USD 35/-
SAT International - Rs.6000/- or USD 70/-
The result of NET will remain valid for the current admission cycle only which will culminate in Fall 2013.
