Generally every student graduates with aspirations of making it to the top universities. Applying for university programs is crucial but not so perplexing for the common practice is to apply to the top engineering universities such as UET, NUST, PIEAS and filling in the priority list of programs with more than ten options. For instance if a student is aiming for NUST, he/she will be targeting mechanical, computer, electrical, chemical or any of the engineering field. Although the nature of the work and required aptitude of all these fields is entirely different from each other, however, evidently less thought and self analysis is undertaken by most.
This practice leads to the selection of non-befitting careers. Problems such as lack of interest in the career selected, low performance, frustration and much more unwelcoming situations shroud the students.
Student must realize that selection of a university program is the most important decision and selection of the university is a secondary determination to make. Without doubt, institution plays an important role in determining an individuals success in the industry, but this without the right kind of aptitude and will, nullifies the whole process. No matter what institute the student is in, the graph of the student descends and the student might give up, in the worst case. Institutions upbringing usually matters more in the initial half of the four year program and in the later years, you can only succeed if you have the aptitude, skills, abilities and traits required for the respective career.
Supposedly, if one doesnt make it to the dream university for a bachelors degree, the opportunity of acquiring a masters from the desired institution always remains. This has in some cases been more beneficial and churned out great experiences for the individuals. Bachelors is relatively more competitive than admissions in masters. Hence, the students need to realize that BS is no way the end of the world, and if they did not make it to their desired institution, there are still chances that they can get into that institution for higher degrees.
