Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has announced that it will re-launch its teachers training programmes Masters in Education and Bachelor in Education (MEd and BEd) from the new semester, autumn 2019 from September These programmes will be in line with the guidelines set by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
M.Ed program will be of one year, and it will be offered for five disciplines, Elementary teacher Education, teacher education, distance and non-formal education, science education and special education.
The eligibility criteria for 1.5 years B.Ed will be MA/MS/BS/BA (hons) 16 years of education. While B.Ed program will be of 2.5 years for those having 14 Years education (2 years BA/BSc).
The university is also offering BS in Education in Elementary education, secondary teacher education and science education. Eligibility for this programme is intermediate 2nd division. According to the Director Admission, curriculum and teaching pattern of the teaching-related programs has been revised to ensure their quality, as per the directives of the Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Zia-Ul-Qayyum.
The HEC has converted one-year B.Ed program into four year on the basis of F.A. and FSc Education and the University was carrying its teaching programme accordingly, so AIOU Stopped admissions in its previous B.Ed and M.Ed programs, but now with the revision in the policy, new revised B.Ed and M.Ed are re-launched.
