The federal government has upheld the decision to reopen Matric and Inter classes on January 18 and universities on February 1. However, the reopening of primary and middle classes is delayed. An important meeting was held today at the National Command and Control Center to decide on the opening of educational institutions in the country.
Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood while addressing a press conference in Islamabad said that the cases of Corona are still on the rise, education has suffered a lot in the last eight months and the ability to learn goes down due to the closure of educational institutions.
Shafqat Mehmood said that 9th to 12th classes will be reopened in the first phase as board examinations of these classes will not be canceled this year and no student will be promoted without exams. It has also been decided to reopen universities on February 1, however, the start of classes 1 to 8 has been delayed by a week and will now open on February 1 instead of January 25.
