Higher Education Commission HEC Islamabad has decided to stop all low quality online courses. HEC will direct the universities and educational institutions to stop such online courses where requisite conditions are not met. A number of students from different parts of the country are complaining against the quality of online courses being offered by the universities.
HEC has asked for detailed information on these courses in order to inspect the quality of the content, delivery, and connectivity. HEC Chairman, Tariq Banuri said that if a university is found to be lacking in capacity to deliver good quality online lectures, they will be directed to halt such lectures.
HEC is also collaborating with a number of other stakeholders and also providing required training and infrastructure and resources to the universities for smooth running of online courses. Universities which have proper learning management system LMS are also requested to provide support and training to those lacking the requisite conditions. In Punjab UET Lahore and Virtual University have been asked to provide support to other universities.
