Inter Board Committee of Chairmen, IBBC, has recommended that medical admissions this year to be granted on the basis of first year results. IBCC is a joint forum of chairmen of all educational boards in the country. The IBCC has developed a promotion policy for grading of matric and inter students.
Regarding the admission of MBBS on the basis of first year results, a member of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and Vice-Chancellor of Sindh Medical University Prof. Dr. Tariq Rafi said that PMDC shall decide the admission policy in the light of directions provided by the Government of Pakistan. In addition, the promotion policy sent by IBCC to the Ministry of Education for matriculation and inter, states that all education boards in the country had to take exams for 4 million students, which is not possible due to the COVID 19 epidemic.
IBCC analyzed the results of 25% of the boards of the country and found that marks of the students in 2nd year exams are in accordance with their marks obtained in 1st year exams. This data supports the idea of allotting marks to the 2nd year students based on 1st year marks and also to grant admission in medical colleges on the basis of 1st year results.
