The training has been imparted under Prime Minister’s Special Initiative (PMSI) “Hunarmand Pakistan Program” with monthly stipend of Rs2,000 to each trainee.
Trainees from Fata were provided stipend of Rs3,000 as well as accommodation and transportation where required, a senior official at Navtec said on Monday. He said the training was a continuous process where free toolkits were provided to successful trainees in specific trades.
The official said Navtec maintained a database of all successful PMSI trainees to enable job matching with industry within the country and abroad. In addition, he said, Navtec helped create posts for Job Placement Officers who would help PMSI trainees find jobs within the country and abroad. The official said the Navtec had also been directed to establish a Revolving Fund to provide loans to successful PMSI trainees while an Expo Centre would also be established to showcase products, created by trainees.
He said alongside this long-term, incremental approach to reform, Navtec has also started working with public and private sector training providers to meet immediate national training targets and the geographical expansion of TVET facilities. He said Navtec for the first time in the history of Pakistan conducted national level Skills Competition both for males and females.
Regional Skills competitions around Pakistan were also held.— APP
