PMC is also willing to increase the seats of other provinces and AJK if it receives the applications from the respective authorities for an increase in seats. PMC has set January 29, 2021, as the deadline to receive applications for an increase in the seats of medical colleges.
As a result, 240 seats in a total of 15 public colleges in Punjab stand enhanced to primarily accommodate the quota seats which, in the past, had been accommodated on an over and above basis.
The decision is made after a meeting between the representatives of the federal government, the relevant provincial governments, and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) with PMC officials.
PMC was ordered by the Standing Committees of the Senate and the National Assembly to increase the quota seats for Balochistan and FATA students in the medical and dental colleges. The standing committee had shown grave concerns over the reduction of the seats in the past few days.
