Federal Minister for Education and professional training Shafqat Mahmood has said that primary schools are likely to reopen as scheduled. He was addressing a press conference today in Islamabad. The federal minister said that the final decision of the reopening of schools will be announced by NCOC.
Mr. Shafqat Mahmood said that Government is conducting over 36000 tests on a daily basis and a large number of tests are being conducted in schools. However, less than 1 percent of test results are positive, which means that the infection rate is very low. Keep in view this rate, it is expected that primary schools will be reopened on September 30.
The government of Sindh has also announced to reopen primary and middle schools from September 28. Provincial education Minister Saeed Ghani announced the decision. Sindh Government announced the decision on Friday. It is also announced that students will be provided awareness about SOPs for 2-3 minutes before the start of every class.
Institutions will be ordered to follow the SOPs strictly. Schools not following SOPs will be closed. Mr. Saeed Ghani also stated that parents will not be pressurized to send their children to the schools.
