HBL announces five scholarships for GCU students

The Habib Bank Foundation, a philanthropist and social development organization of Habib Bank Limited (HBL), has initiated five perpetual golden scholarships for the financially-challenged students of the GC University Lahore (GCU). On behalf of the banks President, Mr Nauman K. Dar; HBL Payment Service Head Faiq Sadiq handed over a cheque of Rs 5 million to GCU Vice Chancellor Prof (Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman at a graceful ceremony at the universitys syndicate Committee Room. The ceremony was also attended by GCU Endowment Fund Trust Secretary Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt, Professor Rafi Chair Prof Dr M Zakria Butt, HBL Chief Representative Central Tauqeer Mazhar and Regional General Manger Operations Sajad-ur-Rahman.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Rahman said that the HBL scholarships, which covered all academic and hostel expenses, would be given to five students on merit every year. He also acknowledged that the HBL donation was yet the highest amount given to the GCU Endowment Fund Trust by any organization. He also said that he had been the proud member of HBL Family for the last 38 years and was satisfied with all services of the Bank.

Addressing the ceremony, Habib Bank Limited Head Payment Services Faiq Sadiq said that HBL believed in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and supporting education was the best way to fulfill it. He said that HBL would further support the GCU students in the coming years.
