The directorate of Higher Education, Government of Khyber Pukhtonkhwa has allowed all Government Colleges to offer admissions to BA/BSc programs for academic session 2019-20. As Higher Education Commission, HEC, Islamabad had announced that 2 years BA/BSc will be stopped from academic session 2019, and no new admissions will be offered to any students in these programs. But perhaps the KP authorities have been successful in getting an extension.
BA/BSc 2 years degree had already been stopped in Punjab, and the University of the Punjab, Lahore has already announced an alternate Associate Degree Program. Although the associate degree program announced by PU is just like the old BA/BSc system, and there is no change in the syllabus and scheme of studies, but here in KP, they have continued the same old system for at least one more year.
It seems that the authorities and universities had not made their preparation after HEC's announcement of phasing out the BA/BSc and MA/MSc systems. Although HEC announced the same many years ago, but universities and Governments of almost all provinces have failed to design the new system even in 2-3 years.
