After reviewing the cases of cheating in MDCAT 2023, The caretaker cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to re-conduct the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT 2023) conducted by ETEA. The MDCAT 2023 was held on September 10, 2023, by ETEA. A number of students were caught cheating the exams through Bluetooth devices.
A petition was filed against these cases, and the Peshawar High Court ordered to withheld of the results of ETEA MDCAT 2023. During the hearing, the KP advocate general proposed the re-conducting of MDCAT 2023 to ensure transparency in the admission process.
At that time, the joint investigation team (JIT) had also submitted an initial probe report, revealing that an organized group was behind the massive cheating for financial gains. It added that cases had been registered against over 200 suspects. It was reported that a government official charged over 35 lakh per student for helping in cheating through Bluetooth devices. During the case, it was also mentioned that students paid over 80 lakh for obtaining 180 marks in MDCAT 2023.
