The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has extended the registration deadline for the Law Admission Test (LAT) 2026, providing candidates additional time to complete their applications.
According to the Education Testing Council (ETC), HEC, the revised last date for registration is Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
The HEC Law Admission Test (LAT) 2026 will be conducted on Sunday, September 6, 2026, as scheduled.
The Law Admission Test is mandatory for candidates seeking admission to a five-year undergraduate LLB degree programme in HEC/Pakistan Bar Council (PBC)-recognized public and private sector universities, institutions, and their affiliated colleges.

Candidates who were unable to complete their registration earlier can now submit their applications before the revised deadline.
Who Can Apply for HEC LAT 2026?
The following candidates are eligible to apply for the Law Admission Test:
- Students who have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or equivalent examination.
- Students who have appeared in the final HSSC or equivalent examination and are awaiting their results.
The LAT is required for admission to the five-year LLB programme in HEC/PBC-recognized institutions.
How to Register for HEC Law Admission Test LAT 2026
Candidates can complete their online registration through the HEC Education Testing Council portal:

The registration process consists of two major steps:
- Complete the candidate profile through the "My Profile" section.
- Submit the application through the "Law Admission Test" option available in the menu on the left-hand side of the online portal.
Candidates should ensure that their application is fully submitted. Applications saved as SAVE or INCOMPLETE will not be considered for the LAT.
HEC LAT 2026 Test Fee
The LAT registration fee is Rs. 1,800.
The fee can be paid through 1Link 1Bill using participating:
- Banks
- ATMs
- Internet banking
- Mobile banking
- Easypaisa
- JazzCash
- UPAISA
After generating the 1Bill invoice through the ETC portal, candidates can log in to their mobile banking or payment application and select the relevant bill/invoice payment option.
Candidates must enter the consumer number generated by the ETC portal and complete the payment.
After paying the fee, applicants should return to the ETC dashboard and select "Verify Online Payment" to confirm their payment.
The LAT test fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
LAT Roll Number Slips and Test Information
Candidates who successfully register for the LAT will be able to download their Roll Number Slips through the ETC portal before the examination.
HEC/ETC will also communicate examination-related information, including the test date, time and examination centre, through registered email addresses and mobile numbers.
Candidates should therefore provide valid and active contact details while completing the online application.
Candidates should regularly check the official HEC/ETC portal for updates regarding roll number slips, examination centres and test-day instructions.
What to Bring to the LAT Examination Centre
Candidates will be required to bring:
- A printed copy of the Roll Number Slip
- Original CNIC or other officially accepted identification document, as specified by HEC/ETC
Candidates should carefully follow all instructions provided on their Roll Number Slip.
Important Instructions for Candidates
Applicants should complete the registration and payment verification process before the deadline. The online registration system does not accept applications after the closing date due to logistical and security arrangements.
Candidates are therefore advised not to wait until the final hours of August 12, 2026 to submit their applications.
Any changes to the examination schedule or other important instructions will be communicated through the official ETC/HEC portal.

Important: The previously announced dates of May 25, 2026 for registration and June 21, 2026 for the test are no longer applicable. The latest schedule is August 12, 2026, for registration and September 6, 2026, for the LAT examination.
