Types of 100% scholarships
Fully-funded or 100% scholarships are of two main types.
- Merit based
- Need based
Merit based scholarships
Merit based scholarships are usually for the top students. Those students who score more than 85-90% in their board examinations are often on the priority list.
Every year, each university has a different merit and eligibility criteria but to stay on the safer side, I recommend you to score more than 90%. This way, whatsoever the scholarship criteria is, you are more likely to get the scholarship.
Remember one thing: university merit-scholarships depend entirely on your intermediate grades/scores which is backed by your matric scores. Stay focused and keep your aim clear. If you want a merit-based scholarship, your journey begins from matric/ o-level.

Other than that, some universities also offer merit-based scholarships based on your performance during your degree.
Need-based scholarship
Need-based scholarships are offered for deserving and needy students. Usually, universities keep the criteria that your monthly family income has to be between 30-40k. for authentication, universities often demand a family income certificate, along with some other requirements respectively.
Most of the universities link need-based scholarships to your university performance. This means, you need to be deserving and you also need to have a good academic record to get a scholarship. In most of the universities, after you get university's admission confirmation letter, you will have to pay fee for your first semester. After that, you will start getting your scholarship fromt he next semester.
Univerisities also set an academic performance criteria that you have to fulfill every semester. If not, they will stop this financial aid.

For full 100% need-based scholarship, where you don’t even have to pay for your first semester, institutes and organizations hold talent-hunts and outreach programs, such as IBA Karachi Talent Hunt Program Scholarship, LUMS National Outreach Program NOP Scholarship.
For above mentioned scholarships, students are selected based on their intermediate-first part result (1st year, A1 level). In this way, you are reached out in your 2nd year or A2 level. You have to compete with other students and if you are selected, they will:
- Help in your university test preparation
- Cover your university application fee
- Cover your complete/ full tuition fee
- In certain cases, offer you monthly stipend
Trust-based scholarships such as Alfalah scholarships schemes offer the promising and talented needy students a chance to excel in their careers.

Students often come unprepared with no knowledge of the disciplines they want to join and the scholarship they want. These scholarships have a very competitive environment. Hundreds of applicants wan to be included in the quota decided by the institute.
If you take your completely filled scholarship planner with you, most likely, the university official will place you in their priority list as it shows your passion and drive to gain this scholarship.
Universities want hardworking, passionate students.
5. Based on your previous education and other documents, the university official will highlight some scholarships for you.
6. After this meeting, start your documentation process. If you have your scholarship planner with you, some major and most asked documents are mentioned there. As you have completed your document already, your more than half requirements are prepared before the meeting that we discussed in point 5 above. If the official asks you some other documents too, fill and prepare those.
7. Try to submit your application form ten days prior to the submission deadline.
8. After 2-3 days of submission of the application form of respective scholarship, make a call to the university admission office and confirm your submission.
9. Most scholarships require interviews.
MOST IMPORTANT POINT: students who apply for need-based scholarships usually dress as casually as possible in interviews to show how deserving and poor they are. DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE! During interview, the panel observes your personality, your body language, your communication and your grooming. Wear properly ironed clothes with the best pair of shoes you have. Take a shower and present yourself in the best and decent manner.
Your deserving situation will be reflected in your documents such as family income certificate. Be honest!
10. Letter of recommendation is also required. For that reason, be a good student with a healthy relation with your educational mentors so that attaining a good and beneficial Letter of Recommendation is easier.
