Prime Minister Imran Khan has rejected the summary of the ministry of Health for finalizing the entry test date for the medical college's admission test MDCAT 2020. Hence the medical and dental college's admission test is delayed due to rejection of the summary. Previously entry tests and admissions requirements were set by PMDC, but now the PMC bill is passed.
The prime minister has advised forming Pakistan Medical Commission and Academic Committee. PMC and Academic Committee shall now decide and set the procedure for the Medical Colleges admission test. PMC bill was passed by the national assembly, and the prime minister has advised to forward the bill to the President Dr. Arif Alvi.
It is pertinent to mention here that PMDC has changed the rules and regulations for admission in medical colleges this year. Last year PMC set 70% marks in FSC and 60% marks in the Entry test for admission to medical colleges. But this year, PMDC announced 65% FSc marks and 33% MDCAT marks as eligibility criteria for admission in medical colleges.
Now, if the PMC is to decide the rules and regulations again, then the criteria might be changed once again. Also, the conduct of MDCAT will be delayed as the President still has to sign the bill. It will take a long time, not less than a month to finalize the formalities for the conduct of Medical College's admissions test.
