The Department of Higher Education, Government of Punjab has decided to start M.Phil and MS programs in the colleges. This is the first time that MS MPhil programs will be offered in government colleges. Initially, programs in arts and science subjects will be started in 10 colleges of Lahore.
These colleges include Dayal Singh, Apwa, MAO College, Islamia College Civil Lines, Science College Wahdat Road, and Post Graduate College for Women Wahdat Road and Cooper Road. Many of the teachers teaching in these colleges already have Ph.D. degrees. MPhil Persian and Botany programs will be offered in Cooper Road colleges. Civil Lines college will offer MPhil English, Urdu, Islamic Studies, and MS Chemistry programs.
The admission process for MS programs in colleges shall start in January. DPI Dr. Ashiq Hussain said that it has been decided to start these degrees in colleges to promote higher education. These programs will be offered at much less fee rates as compared to the university fees. Students will have to pay only PKR: 15000/- per semester fee.
