Pakistan Bar Council issues a Students and Parents alert advising them to avoid seeking admissions to unrecognized universities and their affiliated private law colleges. PBC recognizes LLB and LLM programs offered by Pakistani and foreign universities. Only those who have completed LLB or LLM programs from recognized universities are allowed to practice in Pakistan.
The Pakistan Bar Council has the authority to recognize local and Foreign Universities/Degree Awarding Institutions for the purpose of enrolment as an Advocate. It is also responsible for formulating policies, setting standards, and determining priorities, guidelines, and rules to improve the standard and quality of legal education.

The Pakistan Bar Council/Directorate of Legal Education (DLE) has observed that some higher education institutions publicize and make advertisement and thereafter admit students in LL.B. and LL.M. programs without their recognition/accreditation/approval of this Council and private law College do this without affiliation of local/Foreign University. Consequently, degrees obtained from such institutions do not qualify for enrolment as an Advocate.
This notice/alert is being issued to inform all stakeholders, including parents, students, and educators that the Pakistan Bar Council/Directorate of Legal Education (DLE) will not be responsible if anyone gets admission to such institutions, which are not recognized by the Pakistan Bar Council for the LL.B. and LL.M. Programmes and/or in Private Law Colleges offering LL.B. without affiliation of competent University. Some Colleges/Institutes are granting admissions and conducting classes of LL.B. program, under the garb of a tuition center, students are advised not to waste their precious time and money in such institutions.
Students and parents should also make sure before admission to colleges/institutions offering LL.B. and LL.M. through External programs of Foreign Universities in Pakistan that they have obtained NOC from the Pakistan Bar Council for these programs and that their name exists on the website of this Council.
The individual who gets admission in unauthorized institutions, his/her case/admission shall not be regularized and would not be entitled for enrolment as an Advocate.
The list of all Universities / Colleges/Institutions competent to conduct LL.B. and LL.M. Programmes is available on the website of the Pakistan Bar Council/Directorate of Legal Education (DLE) and telephonically the status of the concerned University/College may also be enquired from the office of the Pakistan Bar Council.
