In a recent development, Pakistan Engineering Council has allowed ICS students (with Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science) to seek admission to all engineering programs offered in the country. Such students will have to clear Chemistry as a remedial subject/course in the 1st semester after admission.
As per PEC regulation No PEC/EAD/46-VCCM/Regulations/2003 dated 30 March 2023, candidates having combination of Physics, Mathematics and Computer Studies / Computer Science (ICS) are eligible to apply for all the Engineering programs, but they have to clear Chemistry as a remedial subject / course in the 1st Semester after admission.
PEC has issued a notification in this regard. The notification reads as follows:
I am directed to state that 46th Vice Chancellors' Committee (VCC) in its meeting held on February 2, 2023 decided the following amendment on the subject matter:
"He or she has passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC/ HSSC) Pre-Engineering Examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, securing at least 60% marks in aggregate of a University, a Board of Intermediate or Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education in Pakistan. In addition, a combination of Physics, Mathematics and Computer Studies/ Computer Science (ICS) is allowed for admission in all Engineering Programs, with Chemistry as a remedial subject/ course in the 1St Semester after admission. A combination of Biology, Physics and Chemistry (Pre-Medical) is also allowed for admission in Bio-Medical or Bio-Engineering."
