A new book has been released by a New York University (NYK) Abu Dhabi faculty member that provides an innovative approach to learning the Quran by integrating Arabic language, rich culture and artistic expressions in the lessons.
The book “Quranic Arabic: Delve and Dive in the Language of Quran” has been co-authored by Nasser Isleem, lecturer at the Arts and Humanities department of NYU Abu Dhabi. The other contributor is Imam Khalid Shau, a professor of Arabic at Tayseer Seminary.
The uniqueness of the book in addition to engaging multimedia content is that the book introduces the learners not only to the language but also makes the learning comprehensive by introducing rich culture and artistic expressions that are part and parcel of the Quran.
The rationale behind authoring this innovative guidebook is to make Quranic learning more interactive and engaging. While discussing the book, the author explained that modern-day learning has become an active process that is more than just memorization or recitation of ideas. Learners actively participate and become capable of understanding and expressing their learnings while applying the concepts in their daily lives.
The book has been authored according to American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) guidelines and instructions, and integrates 5 C’s: communication, culture, connections, comparisons, and communities.
The book's communicative approach, focus on vocabulary and diction of the Quran taught through a wide range of exercises make it a comprehensive book of its types.
The book is out now and available on Amazon for purchase.
