The Urban Planner is an expert on coordinated land use planning, zoning policies, stages of urbanization, infrastructure requirements, shifting economic patterns of growth and decline, and quality of life issues such as poverty and homelessness. He is knowledgeable about planning methods, real estate financing, forecasting methods, transportation systems, environmental and cultural constraints, and the political process. The planning can occur at scales ranging from small neighborhoods up to the national level.
