The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has announced a further extension in summer vacations for educational institutions located in the region’s summer zone.
Under a new notification issued by the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, all public and private educational institutions falling within the summer zone will remain closed from August 10 to August 13, 2026.
The decision means that schools and other educational institutions covered by the summer-zone schedule will not resume regular academic activities during the extended four-day period. Classes are expected to restart after August 13, subject to any further directions issued by the Education Department.
The latest extension has been made applicable across the summer zone and covers both government and privately managed educational institutions. Parents, students and school administrations have been advised to remain attentive to official announcements concerning the reopening date and any revised instructions.
The Education Department has urged educational institutions and families to follow official notifications to avoid confusion regarding the updated academic schedule.
The extension comes as part of the government’s revised arrangements for summer-zone institutions, with the department expected to provide further guidance if any additional changes are announced.
