Dubai Transport Corporation (DTC) has announced the addition of smart buses to the school transportation fleet. With the embarkment of a new academic year where all the initiatives have been taken to ensure a smooth academic process, several measures have been taken to ensure a fun and secure environment for students during transit.
Dubai Transport Corporation (DTC) which works under the Roads and Transport Authority RTA, has taken this step that aligns with international and local safety standards. DTC said every step is taken to ensure the safety and satisfaction of academic stakeholders including institutions, parents, and students. It is part of the vision of the UAE to uphold state-of-the-art delivery service in every sector, especially education.
The new state-of-the-art fleet is outfitted with an array of advanced features:
- Centralized surveillance camera system
- Motion detectors to monitor the movement of students during transit.
- The emergency management system is integrated with local systems for the provision of help in emergency circumstances.
- An automatic fire extinguishing system is also installed to protect engines from rapid fires
- Live tracking of buses through RFID (Radio Frequency Identification System) and GPS
Further, the drivers and attendants of the buses have been trained to provide a healthy environment during transit. Comprehensive safety training and drills are regularly conducted to ensure the readiness of transport staff in case of emergency.
In the follow-up of maintaining standards, the Child Safety Department has conducted awareness seminars with the theme “Their Safety First”.Over 1200 school bus drivers and supervisors participated in the seminar and the strength is 33% more than last year’s participation. The nitty-gritty of safety procedures from entering to leaving the bus have been told to participants. The focus of the workshop was to enhance the awareness among participants about the importance of following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
