Islamabad: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced the winners of the Best University Teacher Award (BUTA) 2025, recognizing seven faculty members from universities across Pakistan for their outstanding contributions to teaching and higher education.
The awards were presented during a ceremony held at the HEC Headquarters in Islamabad. Each recipient received a cash award of Rs. 1 million along with a certificate in recognition of excellence in teaching, academic performance, and commitment to student learning.
HEC Best University Teacher Award 2025 Winners
The following faculty members received the Best University Teacher Award 2025 in their respective disciplines:
- Dr. Nadia Nawaz – COMSATS University Islamabad, Wah Campus (Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction)
- Dr. Rashid Jalil – University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore (Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics)
- Dr. Irfan Bashir – University of Management and Technology (UMT) Lahore (Education)
- Dr. Abrar Ashraf Ali – King Edward Medical University Lahore (Health and Welfare)
- Dr. Owais Mufti – Institute of Management Sciences (IMSciences), Peshawar (Business, Administration and Law)
- Dr. Ahsan Ul Haq – Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), Islamabad (Social Sciences, Journalism and Information)
- Dr. Rao Zahid – University of Agriculture Faisalabad (Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Veterinary)
HEC Chairman Congratulates Award Winners
HEC Chairman Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, who attended the ceremony as the chief guest, congratulated the award recipients and praised their dedication to quality teaching and academic excellence.
He said that university teachers play a vital role in preparing students for future challenges by developing their knowledge, critical thinking, and professional skills. He added that the Best University Teacher Award reflects HEC's commitment to promoting excellence in higher education and encouraging innovative teaching practices.
The ceremony was attended by senior HEC officials, university vice chancellors, members of the award selection committees, and representatives from higher education institutions across the country.
