The Higher Education Commission has taken an important decision to maintain the quality of M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees. Admission to M.Phil and Ph.D. in colleges has been banned. Colleges affiliated with public and private universities are barred from admission. HEC will not certify M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees of affiliated colleges and institutions.
HEC has issued Student Alert on admissions in colleges affiliated with universities. The HEC has made it clear that admissions to M.Phil and Ph.D. in public and private colleges would be illegal and students should avoid seeking admissions to these colleges. HEC has made it clear that MS/MPhil or Ph.D. degrees issued by affiliated colleges or institutes of the universities will not be accepted by the commission.
HEC issued an alert in this regard which states that the affiliated colleges/ institutes are NOT allowed to offer Ph.D. and MS/MPhil or equivalent programs. Students are advised NOT to take admission in any program in the affiliated colleges/ institutes, since the resultant degrees shall NOT be recognized and attested by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The affiliated colleges/institutes are also advised not to advertise the admissions in Ph.D. and MS/MPhil/equivalent programs. Any such action is liable to be proceeded as per law.
