A new hybrid classes system will be implemented at the University of Sharjah (UoS) keeping in view the special circumstances of certain students.
His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah has approved this new system to ease the tight schedule of working students and employees aspiring for higher education. Earlier students had to be present at the university for at least 3 days a week to attend the classes but according to the new scheme, relaxation has been granted and students are required to be available on campus only 1 day a week, the compensation for other 2 days will be provided through online classes. This new policy is not only a sigh of relief for working students, but also for those employees who can’t get into university because of the busy job routine and restrictions imposed by the employer.
The announcement was made by His Highness SheikhDr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi during an interview through a telephone call at the “Direct Line” radio program.
In his interview, he expressed sympathetic remarks for students engaged in work during their studies. He explained that such aspirants are close to heart and deserve special attention and assistance. Further, he clarified that this scheme is not for everyone enrolled at university, rather only they can benefit from this scheme who have genuine reasons and special permission will be provided after careful consideration of applicants' circumstances.
It is noteworthy that the hybrid system was launched after a citizen named Umm Saud called His Highness Dr. Sultan and expressed his inability to join the regular classes system due to work commitments.
During the interview, Dr. Sultan also emphasized the importance of learning Arabic. For this, he exemplified his dedication and persistence in learning his native language.
