The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government is preparing to introduce a new Inter-Tech program in government schools to give students greater access to technical and practical education.
The Elementary and Secondary Education Department has issued a notification for the launch of the program, which will initially be implemented in 20 Government Higher Secondary Schools across 10 districts of the province.
The pilot phase will include an equal number of boys’ and girls’ schools. A total of 10 Government Higher Secondary Schools for boys and 10 Government Girls Higher Secondary Schools have been selected for the initiative.
Technical Education for School Students
The Inter-Tech program is aimed at bringing technical education into the regular government school system. It will provide students with opportunities to develop practical and technical skills alongside their general education.
The initiative is expected to help students gain skills that can support further technical studies, employment and other career opportunities after completing their education.
Private Technical Providers to Run Program
According to the notification, the government will select Technical Education Providers (TEPs) through an open and competitive outsourcing process.
The selected providers will be responsible for implementing the program in the designated schools according to the requirements set by the Education Department.
The government has decided to begin the initiative on a limited scale through 20 schools before potentially expanding it to more institutions across the province.
The Inter-Tech program is part of KP’s broader efforts to improve the quality of education and provide students with more practical learning and technical skills alongside traditional academic subjects.
