Lahore Board to End Traditional Paper Marking Centers and Introduce Online Checking

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore has announced a major change in its examination system, deciding to eliminate traditional paper marking centers from upcoming examinations.

Under the new system, students’ answer sheets will be checked through online, on-screen marking, allowing examiners to evaluate papers from their homes instead of traveling to designated marking centers.

On-Screen Marking to Begin from Second Annual Exams

BISE Lahore Chairman Professor Badr-ul-Salam said the new on-screen marking system will be introduced from the Second Annual Examination.

Under the system, students’ papers will be digitally scanned and made available to examiners online. Examiners will then be able to check and mark the papers remotely.

The move is expected to make the marking process more convenient for examiners while also improving monitoring and reducing the chances of errors.

Fewer Marking Errors Expected

According to the Lahore Board chairman, online marking will help reduce mistakes during paper checking. It will also eliminate the difficulties faced by examiners who have to travel to marking centers, particularly those located far from their homes.

The digital system is also expected to make it easier for the board to monitor the marking process and identify potential issues.

Easier Handling of Rechecking Complaints

The new system could also improve the process of dealing with rechecking-related complaints.

Since papers will be available digitally, the board will have better access to examination records, making it easier to review marking and address complaints when required.

Online Admission Forms Also Introduced

Professor Badr-ul-Salam also said that candidates are being provided with the facility to submit their examination admission forms online.

He added that strict monitoring during this year's examinations contributed to improved 9th class results. The board expects the introduction of on-screen marking to further improve the quality, transparency and reliability of examination results.

The shift marks a major move away from the traditional paper-checking system and toward a more digital and technology-based examination process at BISE Lahore.
