The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the relevant authorities to keep the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) question papers and their respective codes available on the official website until the admission process is completed.
Justice Ahsan Raza Kazmi issued the directive on Saturday while hearing petitions filed by Noshaab A. Khan and other applicants concerning the examination.
The court observed that removing the question papers from the website could prevent students from raising objections and undermine transparency in the admission process. Keeping the papers accessible would allow candidates to review the questions and pursue any concerns through the appropriate channels.
The ruling comes amid growing controversy over the credibility of the MDCAT in Sindh. Allegations of a question paper leak circulated on social media, while lawmakers also raised concerns about the fairness and transparency of the examination.
In response to the complaints, the federal government contacted the Sindh government and called for an independent and transparent investigation. The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) also wrote to Sindh's health minister, seeking an inquiry into the allegations.
The provincial government has been directed to complete the investigation and submit its report within two weeks. The MDCAT is a mandatory admission requirement for students seeking entry into medical and dental colleges, making the credibility of the examination a significant concern for thousands of applicants.
