The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has started a new Skill Development Training program for graduate engineers under the second cohort of its Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Program.
The initiative is designed to help young engineers gain practical industry experience and develop the professional skills needed to enter the job market.
1,400 Engineers to Receive Training
The second phase of the program is aimed at 1,400 engineers who graduated in 2025.
The training has been divided into two groups:
- First batch: September 1 to September 30, 2026 — 700 trainees
- Second batch: October 1 to October 31, 2026 — 700 trainees
PEC is running the program with the support of more than 60 industrial partners across Pakistan.
Five-Month Industrial Training Plus Skill Development
The GET program follows a structured house-job model for engineers. Trainees receive five months of practical field training with participating industrial organizations, followed by one month of dedicated skill development training.
A major financial benefit of the program is a monthly stipend of Rs. 50,000 for each trainee during the program.
This combination of industrial exposure and professional training is intended to make fresh engineering graduates more prepared for employment.
Training Centres Across Pakistan
The skill development sessions are being conducted five days a week at eight training centres located in:
- Islamabad
- Rawalpindi
- Peshawar
- Lahore
- Multan
- Karachi
- Hyderabad
- Quetta
This nationwide arrangement allows participating engineers from different regions to complete the professional development component of the program.
Skills Covered in PEC GET Training
The training is not limited to technical engineering knowledge. PEC has included a range of workplace and professional skills that engineers are expected to use in their careers.
The curriculum includes:
- Communication skills
- Emotional intelligence
- Executive presence
- Stress management
- Business writing
- Public speaking
- Conflict resolution
- Stakeholder management
- Critical thinking
- Time management
- Innovation
- Engineering ethics
These areas are intended to help graduate engineers improve both their workplace performance and employability.
Personality Development Program at NDU
As part of the final week, trainees will also participate in a one-week Certificate Program in Personality Development organized by the National Defence University (NDU).
The additional training is intended to further strengthen participants' confidence, professional conduct and interpersonal skills.
What Graduate Engineers Gain from the Program
The PEC GET Placement Program is designed to address the gap between university education and practical engineering work.
Through the program, graduates can gain:
- Practical exposure to industrial environments
- Experience working with industry professionals
- Professional and communication skills
- Workplace management skills
- Exposure to real engineering practices
- A better understanding of industry expectations
- Financial support through the monthly stipend
For fresh graduates who have limited professional experience, this type of structured industry exposure can provide an important transition from university to employment.
PEC's House-Job Model for Engineers
PEC Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir said the GET Placement Program is intended to connect academic learning with professional practice.
The council says the initiative will help improve graduate employability, strengthen links between universities and industry, and prepare young engineers for changing industry requirements.
The program is also part of PEC's broader effort to develop a skilled engineering workforce capable of supporting Pakistan's technological and economic growth.
Important Information for 2025 Engineering Graduates
The current training phase specifically covers graduates of 2025 who are part of the second GET cohort.
Engineers who are already selected for the program should follow the training schedule and instructions provided by PEC or their respective training centres. The available information does not state that fresh applications for new candidates are currently open.
Therefore, graduates should not assume that the announcement represents a new application round. Instead, they should check PEC's official announcements for eligibility, registration, selection and future cohorts.
