The Punjab government has announced a special scholarship package for students from Gilgit-Baltistan, with around 500 students set to receive financial assistance under the initiative.
According to Punjab’s Education Minister, scholarships worth more than Rs60 million will be distributed among students enrolled in seven educational institutions across Gilgit-Baltistan. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is scheduled to formally distribute the scholarships to the selected students.
The Education Minister described the initiative as a gift from the Punjab government for talented students from Gilgit-Baltistan. The scholarships are being offered under the Honhaar Scholarship Programme, which includes dedicated quotas for students from different provinces and regions of Pakistan.
The government said the initiative is aimed at expanding access to higher education and providing financial support to deserving and talented students regardless of their region.
The Punjab Education Minister also announced that the provincial government plans to extend a similar scholarship initiative to students from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) in the coming days.
The latest announcement reflects Punjab’s efforts to include students from other regions in its scholarship programmes and provide them with greater opportunities to pursue higher education.
