Punjab Directs Government Schools to Grow Seasonal Vegetables

The Punjab School Education Department has instructed government schools across the province to grow seasonal vegetables on their premises and ensure that the crops are properly maintained.

The department issued the instructions through a circular sent to school heads, directing them to make suitable arrangements for vegetable cultivation and appoint a staff member to supervise the activity.

Schools Told to Maintain Vegetable Crops

According to the instructions, schools where vegetable production has not been satisfactory must restart cultivation and take proper care of the crops.

School administrations have been asked to ensure regular watering and timely maintenance so that the vegetables grow properly.

The department has also introduced a monitoring requirement. Schools will have to send daily photographs showing the condition and maintenance of their vegetable crops.

Strict Compliance Ordered

Headmasters and school administrations have been directed to follow the instructions strictly and ensure that the vegetable-growing activity is properly managed.

The initiative aims to encourage schools to make productive use of available space while involving school staff and students in basic cultivation and maintenance activities.
