The Punjab government has forwarded a summary to the Chief Minister's Office seeking formal approval for the second phase of the Honhaar Scholarship Program, with an allocation of Rs. 33 billion proposed for the current fiscal year.
According to official sources, Phase II of the program will expand scholarship opportunities for talented and deserving students by supporting their admission to some of the world's highest-ranked universities. The initiative aims to help outstanding students pursue higher education abroad without financial barriers.
Under the proposed scheme, the Punjab government will cover all major educational expenses for selected scholars, including tuition fees, accommodation, and other academic costs associated with studying overseas. In addition, scholarship recipients will receive a monthly stipend ranging from Rs. 65,000 to Rs. 70,000 to help meet their living expenses during their studies.
Officials said the Honhaar Scholarship Program is designed to provide academically gifted students with access to world-class education while preparing them to compete successfully at both national and international levels. By investing in high-achieving youth, the government aims to strengthen Pakistan's future workforce with globally trained professionals.
Once approved, Phase II is expected to enable a larger number of students to secure admissions at internationally recognized universities, further enhancing their academic, research, and professional capabilities. Authorities believe the expansion of the program will play an important role in developing skilled human capital and creating new opportunities for Pakistan's youth.
