Around 2.1 million students in Punjab have been registered for the Grade 5 and Grade 8 board examinations for the current academic year.
The Punjab Education Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority (PECTAA) will conduct examinations for both classes in all subjects.
Grade 8 students will appear in 10 subjects, while Grade 5 students will take examinations in 6 subjects.
PECTAA will provide the question papers for the examinations. Each paper will carry 100 marks, including 40 marks for objective questions and 60 marks for written questions.
Around 1.1 million Grade 5 students and 1 million Grade 8 students are expected to take part in the examinations.
Examination Dates
The Grade 5 and Grade 8 board examinations are scheduled to start in the first week of February 2027. The exact date sheet is expected to be announced by PECTAA separately.
The results are expected to be announced in the first week of March 2027.
Students will be assigned examination centres at schools located close to their schools to make it easier for them to appear in the exams.
PECTAA has set September 30, 2026, as the deadline for completing student registration.
The board examinations are part of Punjab's efforts to introduce a standardized assessment system and improve the evaluation of students at the primary and middle-school levels.
