Allama Iqbal Open University has announced fully funded PhD scholarships for students applying for Autumn 2026 admissions. Under the scheme, selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 80,000 along with full tuition fee coverage.
The university stated that the scholarships will be awarded on a merit basis. Admission to the PhD programs will follow the criteria set by the Higher Education Commission, while applicants seeking the scholarship must also fulfill additional conditions specified by AIOU.

Eligibility for Scholarship
To qualify for the fully funded scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Minimum 3.5 CGPA out of 4.0 (or equivalent) in MS/MPhil.

Submission of a strong research proposal related to the department’s research areas.

Maximum age of 35 years on the closing date of admissions.
The university added that candidates with prior research experience or published work will be given preference, although publications are not compulsory.

Selected scholars will receive:
Full tuition fee waiver
Monthly stipend: Rs. 80,000
Research facilities: Libraries, laboratories, and online databases
Duration: Up to four years
The scholarship will continue for up to four years, subject to satisfactory academic performance. Since it is a residential scholarship, selected students will be required to remain physically present at the AIOU Main Campus during the stipend period.
