The Punjab government has announced free education for students with disabilities at colleges across the province, with the provincial administration directing institutions to waive all applicable fees.
According to the directives issued by the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) Colleges on the instructions of the Punjab Chief Minister, college heads have been ordered not to charge students with disabilities admission fees, tuition fees or other related charges.
The official communication further states that students with disabilities will also receive an equal share in scholarship opportunities alongside other students.
College principals and heads have been instructed to ensure full implementation of the orders. Officials have warned that administrative action will be taken against heads of institutions found violating the directives.
The initiative aims to ensure that disability or financial difficulties do not prevent students from accessing higher education in Punjab.
