In response to the rising summer temperatures, the Punjab government has officially revised school timings and announced the start date for summer vacations across the province. Member of the Provincial Assembly, Rana Sikandar Hayat, shared the update via social media, stating that new school timings will be from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM, effective immediately. This decision has been taken to ensure the safety and well-being of students by allowing school hours during the cooler part of the day.
Summer Vacations
Along with the revised timings, it was also announced that summer holidays will officially begin from the 28th of May, 2025. This early announcement gives parents, teachers, and students enough time to prepare accordingly—whether it’s for completing coursework, organizing school transport schedules, or planning vacation activities.
The change in school hours is a welcome move considering the intense heat waves being reported in many regions of Punjab. Shorter school days during the morning not only reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses like dehydration and heatstroke but also enhance learning efficiency as students are more alert and active during early hours.
Schools are advised to adjust daily routines, including morning assemblies and transportation schedules, to align with the new timings. Parents should ensure their children are dressed appropriately for the heat, carry water bottles, and wear caps or use umbrellas to stay protected from the sun. Teachers may also distribute summer vacation homework before the break begins.
This timely decision reflects a proactive approach by the authorities and helps ensure a safe, comfortable, and productive transition into the summer break for all students.
