Molecular Biology The study of the molecular basis of life forms, particularly in the function of individual cells. The Molecular Biologist is an expert on the mechanisms by which a cell stores, transmits, and expresses its genetic information in the form of protein molecules. He also studies the macromolecular organization within and between the various cell components. He is knowledgeable about the differing mechanisms of genetic expression during embryonic development, cell differentiation, and aging. Much research in this field is tied to the study and development of genetics.
