Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood has said that the government will propose to close schools in the meeting on Monday. In view of the increasing number of deaths and cases due to coronavirus across the country, the federal government on Monday has called on a meeting of education ministers of all provinces.
The meeting will propose that schools be closed from November 25. Speaking on a private TV channel, Shafqat Mahmood said that it was proposed to start home-based studies instead of on-campus. In schools where there is no arrangement of online classes, children may come to school one day to collect homework.
Also, a statement issued by Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood on social media said that the Ministry of Education and Radio Pakistan has reached an agreement to promote education for children through radio. Shafqat Mahmood said that educational material will be broadcast for 4 hours daily under the radio school. Educational material will be aired on Radio Pakistan from 10 am to 12 noon while it will be repeated throughout the week from 2 to 4 pm.
Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood said that the project was carried out in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan to provide education to people in every corner of the country during the Coronavirus. A tele-school was launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and PTV, which is benefiting about 8 million children. He added that the government also plans to launch an e-education portal soon. The public will be able to access 'TeleSchool' and 'Radio School' programs with just one click.
