School Education Department Punjab has officially announced summer vacations for all public and private schools across the province. According to the notification, schools throughout Punjab will remain closed from May 22, 2026, to August 23, 2026, while academic activities will resume from August 24, 2026.
The decision has been taken in view of the increasing temperatures and expected heatwave conditions in different parts of Punjab. Officials stated that the main purpose of the summer holidays is to protect students, teachers, and school staff from extreme weather conditions during the peak summer season.
As per the announcement, all government and private educational institutions operating under the Punjab School Education Department will follow the same vacation schedule. Parents and students have been advised to stay updated through their respective schools for any further changes or instructions regarding academic calendars, examinations, or online learning activities during the holidays.
The announcement of nearly three months of summer vacations has brought relief to students across Punjab, especially as temperatures continue to rise in major cities including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, and Bahawalpur. Many parents had been waiting for an official update due to concerns about student health and transportation difficulties during extreme heat.
Education experts believe that summer vacations also provide students with an opportunity to participate in productive activities such as summer camps, skill development courses, reading programs, and recreational learning. At the same time, schools may use this period for maintenance work, staff training, and academic planning for the upcoming session.
Punjab schools will reopen on August 24, 2026, after the completion of the summer break, and regular classes will continue according to the new academic schedule issued by the department.
