The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a standardized test that is mostly used by many graduate universities in the USA and Canada. The GRE is owned and administered by Educational Testing Services (ETS). It was established in 1936 by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
GRE Test Pattern
The GRE consists of 3 sections, including:
- Verbal Reasoning: This section assesses the ability of the individual to analyze and evaluate the written material, vocabulary, and reading comprehension skills.
- Quantitative: This section tests the individual's math skills which include algebra, geometry, arithmetic, and data analysis.
- Analytical Writing: This section evaluates the individual's ability to analyze the arguments critically and showcase a coherent and well-structured essay. It entails two tasks, one being to analyze an argument and the other being to present your argument.
