Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood chaired an inter-provincial education ministers' conference in which all provincial education ministers participated via video link. The Interprovincial Education Ministers conference concluded today without any decision on the closing of schools. However, the situation of the second wave of coronavirus will be reviewed again in the next meeting. Interprovincial education minister's conference will now be held on Monday 23rd November 2020.
The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) and other concerned officials briefed the ministers on the current status of Corona cases. It was proposed to extend the winter holidays from November to January, saying that the number of cases in educational institutions has risen to alarming levels, but the education ministers opposed the closure of schools. The education ministers will meet again next week to review the situation.
Federal Minister Shafqat Mahmood said that children have suffered a lot of loss in their education. He said that after the tele-school Government is planning to launch a radio school. Shafqat Mahmood said that the process of online education has also started in the universities. Punjab Education minister said that all options are being discussed.
A meeting of the National Coordinating Committee (NCC) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected this evening. The situation of the pandemic and the issue of winter vacations will also be discussed in this meeting.
