Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani has said that there will be no winter holidays in educational institutions across Sindh this year. Saeed Ghani said in a statement that the steering committee's schedule did not include winter holidays.
He said the Coronavirus has already caused much loss to the education calendar and more holidays were already given than usual. Saeed Ghani said that winter holidays are not possible at present. The Sindh Education Minister further said in his statement that it would be further discussed at the NCOC meeting at the end of November.
However, the federal education minister Shafqat Mahmood and Prime Minister Imran Khan had already announced that winter vacations may be extended for a period of two months across the country due to the alarming situation of the coronavirus. The country is experiencing a severe second wave of the pandemic and over 2000 daily cases are being reported in the country.
The final decision on the winter vacations will be made in the 23rd November meeting of the interprovincial education ministers' conference. NCOC has already recommended two months of winter vacations.
