Lahore: In a major relief for students, the Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) has decided to conduct the Diploma of Information Technology (DIT) examinations in both Urdu and English, making the examination system more accessible and student-friendly.
According to PBTE officials, all future DIT examination question papers will be prepared in a bilingual format, allowing candidates to read and answer questions in the language they find most comfortable. The initiative is aimed at reducing language barriers and ensuring that students are assessed on their technical knowledge and practical understanding rather than their proficiency in a single language.
The board has also issued a formal notification confirming the implementation of the bilingual examination system for the two-year DIT program.
Officials said the decision was taken to improve the overall examination process and provide equal learning opportunities to students from different educational backgrounds. Many DIT candidates come from institutions where instruction is primarily in Urdu, while others study in English-medium environments. Offering question papers in both languages is expected to create a level playing field for all examinees.
Education experts believe the move will help students better understand examination questions, reduce confusion during exams, and improve their overall performance. It is also expected to minimize mistakes caused by language comprehension issues, enabling candidates to demonstrate their actual technical skills and knowledge more effectively.
