The Punjab government is set to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) education at the primary school level as part of its efforts to prepare students for modern technologies and changing workplace demands.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the initiative in a message issued on World Teachers’ Day, while highlighting the role of teachers in improving education and shaping society.
She said teachers play a central role in developing students’ knowledge, character, moral values and social skills. She also paid tribute to teachers across Punjab and appreciated their dedication and contribution to education.
AI to Be Introduced in Primary Education
Maryam Nawaz said the provincial government is introducing AI in primary education to help children become familiar with modern knowledge and skills from an early stage.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to modernize the province’s education system and equip students with skills relevant to technological developments.
The chief minister also highlighted the establishment of Nawaz Sharif Schools of Eminence across Punjab, saying the programme is aimed at improving the quality of education and providing better learning opportunities to students.
Teachers to Receive Modern Training
The Punjab government is also providing free training to teachers to improve their teaching skills and prepare them for modern educational requirements.
According to the chief minister, the training includes English conversation, information technology and other contemporary teaching methods.
She emphasized that a good teacher does more than deliver academic knowledge, as teachers also help students develop discipline, values, manners and social awareness.
The government’s initiatives are intended to strengthen both teacher capacity and student learning while introducing modern technologies such as AI into Punjab’s education system.
