The Punjab Medical Faculty has announced major reforms to its examination system, deciding to introduce a new format for all annual examinations conducted under its jurisdiction.
Under the new system, all annual examinations held from December onward will consist entirely of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The answer sheets will be evaluated using Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) machines, allowing the checking process to be automated.
According to officials, the new examination format is aimed at making the assessment process more transparent, efficient and timely. Automated checking is expected to significantly reduce the time required to evaluate examination papers and help ensure that results are announced more quickly.
The use of OMR technology will also reduce the possibility of human error during the checking and compilation of results. Candidates' responses will be processed through modern technology, making the overall result-preparation process more systematic.
The Punjab Medical Faculty said the reforms are intended to provide students with a more convenient and transparent examination experience while minimizing unnecessary delays in the announcement of results.
The new MCQ-based format will apply to all annual examinations conducted by the Punjab Medical Faculty from December 2026 onward.
