Pakistan Engineering council, Engineering Universities, and Federal Ministry of education have decided to allow all students aspiring for engineering admission to appear in engineering universities' entry test. No eligibility criteria are set for students for appearing in the entry test, as last year's 1st-year exams were not conducted. However, for the admission confirmation, the students will have to provide the FSc results.
Federal Minister for Education and Vocational Training Shafqat Mehmood chaired a consultative meeting of Pakistan Engineering Council, Vice Chancellors of Engineering Universities, and senior officials of HEC to ensure admission of students in engineering universities. It was decided to allow all students aspiring for engineering university admissions to appear in ECAT and Engineering Entrance exams.
Cambridge A2 students are also allowed to appear in the entry test. However, university admission will be subject to the final examination. Due to the delay in the academic year and examinations, various options were discussed to save the students from wasting the year. It was unanimously decided that all the students who have passed or are about to take the Intermediate examination will be allowed to sit for the ECAT examination / Engineering examination.
Cambridge A2 students will also be allowed to sit for these exams. Universities will give Provisional Admission which will be subject to final examination. No student can be prevented from sitting for engineering entry test. Shafqat Mahmood appreciated this decision and said that this year is extraordinary for students and educational institutions in which we have to take extraordinary decisions. It is commendable that the Engineering Council and the concerned authorities have facilitated the students under the direction of the Federal and Provincial Governments.
