Rana Sikandar Hayat, Minster for School Education, Punjab has clarified the issue of teaching license in Punjab. After the news of the teaching license being imposed as a mandatory required for teacher recruitment in Punjab, many media outlets and social media activists started spreading fake news about the teaching license being required for already employed teachers.
But now the education minister has clarified that a teaching license is not required for the teachers already recruited. The licensing requirement will be imposed on new recruitment policy only and already recruited teachers will not be required to pass the licensing exams.
The minister clarified this through his official social media handler while replying to a comment on his official social media page. He also mentioned that the golden handshake policy is not being introduced. The minister also requested that users abstain from spreading fake news.
There was a huge unrest amongst the teaching community on both issues. The teachers were very upset as they might lose their jobs in the licensing requirement was to be imposed on them. Also, the news about the golden handshake policy caused uncertainties in the minds of the teachers and they were planning to hold a protest against the government on the aforementioned policies. But now the minister has officially clarified that both news stories are fake and that the government is not introducing any such policy.
