Hyderabad: A government girls’ school in Sindh has brought international recognition to Pakistan after being shortlisted among the world’s top 10 schools in a prestigious global education competition.
Government Girls Lower Secondary School Tando Mir Ghulam Hussain, located in Hyderabad district, has been selected among the Top 10 schools in the Community Collaboration category of the World’s Best School Prizes 2026.
The recognition was announced by T4 Education, an international organization that honors outstanding schools and innovative educational practices from around the world.
The achievement places the Sindh government school among a select group of institutions chosen from thousands of schools worldwide, including both public and private institutions.
The World’s Best School Prizes recognize schools in five major categories: Community Collaboration, Environmental Action, Innovation, Overcoming Adversity, and Supporting Healthy Lives. An international panel of experts reviewed applications before selecting the top 10 schools in each category.
The Hyderabad-based school earned recognition for its strong partnership with parents, students, and the local community. The school has actively involved community members in educational activities and awareness campaigns aimed at improving learning outcomes.
In recent years, the school introduced practical STEAM education projects covering science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. These initiatives have helped make classroom learning more interactive and engaging for students.
The school’s focus on both academic growth and personal development played a major role in securing its place among the global finalists. Its community-driven approach was particularly appreciated during the international evaluation process.
According to reports, Government Girls Lower Secondary School Tando Mir Ghulam Hussain is one of only two Pakistani schools shortlisted for the 2026 awards. The second institution is a private school from Punjab.
The achievement provides the Sindh government school with an opportunity to showcase its educational model on an international platform and may encourage other public schools across Pakistan to adopt community-based learning initiatives.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah congratulated the school’s administration, teachers, students, parents, and local community.
They described the recognition as a proud moment for Sindh’s education sector and Pakistan’s public school system, saying it demonstrates that government schools can achieve global success through innovation, teamwork, and active community participation.
The school has currently secured a place among the Top 10 finalists. The final winners in each category will be announced by T4 Education after the completion of the judging process. The shortlisted schools are also eligible for the Community Choice Award, which is decided through public voting.
