Lahore: The Lahore Education Authority has ordered an emergency citywide survey of tuition centers, academies, and educational buildings following the tragic roof collapse at a tuition center in Kahna.
The decision was taken to assess the structural safety of educational institutions and prevent similar incidents in the future.
According to the Education Authority, the survey will be completed within three days. Special inspection committees comprising Zonal Heads and Assistant Education Officers (AEOs) have been formed to carry out the inspections across Lahore.
Chief Executive Officer of the Lahore Education Authority, Tariq Mahmood, said the teams will examine the condition of school buildings, tuition centers, and academies. They will also evaluate safety standards and collect data on the number of students studying at each institution.
The survey findings will be used to develop a policy for the registration and regulation of tuition centers and private academies. Officials say the initiative aims to improve safety measures and ensure educational institutions meet required standards.
After completing the inspections, the committees will submit detailed reports to the Education Authority. The authority will then decide on further action based on the survey results.
The move comes in the wake of the Kahna tuition center roof collapse, which raised serious concerns about the safety of privately operated educational facilities. Authorities hope the emergency survey will help identify unsafe buildings and strengthen safety regulations to better protect students.
